Description/Abstract:
This Filthy Earth, inspired by Emile Zola's novel La Terre, could happily be set at almost any time in the present or recent past. Two sisters lives are turned upside down by a villager bent on seizing their land. Set in a countryside tormented by rural hardship and a community rapt with superstition, the sisters' close relationship is threatened as they battle to keep control of their family's estate.
