The Aldershot Mixtape is an immersive music heritage audio walk that takes you through Aldershot town, celebrating its rich and diverse heritage. This walk guides listeners on a sonic journey through the town's musical history. It features a variety of sounds, from the indie vibes of the legendary Buzz Club to the lively atmosphere of Victorian dance halls and the hedonistic early days of rave music. You'll hear a blend of synth, punk and folk songs, along with the distant chants of the Aldershot football club. By combining music, sound design, and interviews, the walk creates an immersive experience through the town's unique history.
Featuring audio work by
Jo Bartlett, Hattie Croucher, ElectroSonic Alchemists, Enid, The Memory Band feat. Andrews of Arcadia, Tara Manandhar, Phillip Osborne and Ben Unwin.
The Aldershot Mixtape led Jamie Dobson and me to establish People/Stories, a company creating place-based projects situated between film and graphic design. The Mixtape has been developed as a business through the Surrey Venture Studio Accelerator scheme.
