How can we make Film and Television Production Education greener and more sustainable?
The UK film industry led by BAFTA is pushing a strategy to turn film production to a zero carbon and zero waste industry through the albert Consortium. The sector is implementing reasonable adjustments and considering early in the production ways of reducing their carbon footprint aiming for net zero productions. This is report on at how we ensured that our students are on track with industry expectations. A review of teaching carbon calculation and the educational platform that BAFTA albert certification.
This report is an overview of delivering carbon calculator programme and integrating sustainable practices into the delivery of a television production course. Investigating the student experience with sustainability training, and how changes impacted their production, its alignment with their values, and employability. Students who have received albert certification for documentaries are interviewed on their experience and staff delivering the certification reflect on implementing green production into their curriculum. Looking at how we as educators could embed further green strategies and methods of production into the course throughout the three year groups.
