Transparent boundaries, the perfect form
Harrison, Diana (2014) Transparent boundaries, the perfect form. [Exhibition/show, Textiles]
- Details
This exhibition is bringing artists from the UK and Italy together at Galeria Tkacka, as part of the Transparent Boundaries project, funded by the EU Culture Programme. The project aims to increase the visiblity of the older generation. Artists work with older people and also make work themselves about themes concerning the older generation.
For Galeria Tkacka, textile artist Diana Harrison is exhibiting works based on x-rays and bone scans, which revealed that she has osteoporosis. The work contains delicate traceries of lines and holes, worked into the cloth and burnt away. Much of thework is fragile and all involved stitched layers of dyed cloth. Some have been subsequently bleaced, burnt and chemically printed resulting in the erosion and fragmentation of the fabric to reveal an underlying grid.
It is exhibited alongside work by Italian choreographer Giulio D'Anna.
