Description/Abstract:

This practice based PhD research explores the documentation of a DMV (deserted medieval village) in East Sussex and addresses problems in recording physically shifting landscapes. Marshlands are areas of transience; geographic and human details are revealed and concealed through dynamic water levels. The work considers how illustration can be employed as documentation to explore and capture alternative timeframes and readings of place.
