Description/Abstract:
In this essay Gwen John's 'Nude Girl' Alicia Foster examines the importance of this painting in an historical context. The relationship between the subject and the artist is also discussed.
The 'Nude Girl' was painted at the same time as 'Girl with Bare Shoulders'. The two paintings are considered together and these two 'looks' of dress and undress were important to Gwen John.
