Description/Abstract:
"Stopgap in Stop Motion" is a 4' 30" film completed in January 2017 that was commissioned by, and made in collaboration with, "Stopgap Dance Company". The film is a vehicle for investigating aspects of my research question, specifically: how can the microfilm maker work with the epic form and create language and methods for doing that. To realise this, live action and animation techniques are utilised to depict photographs of performers in an inclusive dance company coming to life. The film has been disseminated internationally through film festivals and other public screenings, via the internet and in a national television screening.
