Description/Abstract:

The project explored the use of automated technology in relation to the manufacture of sculptural objects. Artworks were constructed through digitally drawing materials and objects in the studio, before using a coded script to automatically generate and connect these parts into digital models that were then constructed by hand (using the digital model as a guide). The developed process explored a play of agency between the machine and hand-made methods, as well as exploring forms of instruction-based art practice. A selection of the resulting works were exhibited at Three Works, Weymouth, UK.
