Description/Abstract:

Tools For The Future is a site-responsive project for Gerald Moore Gallery, which explores relationships between philosophical aesthetic enquiry and kinesthetic learning. Tools For The Future (a term used by sculptor Constantin Brancusi to describe objects with embodied potential), involves working in collaboration with students from Elthem College, and local schools affiliated with GMG, towards the design/construction of a ‘conversation pit’ to be installed in the GMG garden for two years. Through material experimentation, engagement with sculpture, and programme of public talks and workshops, participants will explore the gallery as a studio.
