Description/Abstract:
This was the second commission from Dover Arts Development as part of the DMAG: Joined Up project. This was a two year project, culminating in a musical event and installation at the Maison Dieu in Dover, Kent. These films were in response to the 18th Division in World War I, the battalions that the museum holds the archive for. The response focused on Major General Ivor Maxse and how he prepared the soldiers for the Battle of the Somme. The film was shot in the Drop Redoubt with a living historian acting the part of a Regimental Sargent Major. It tried to tell the story of the degree to which soldiers had to prepare themselves.
