This exhibition catalogue was published in conjunction with the exhibition 'Digital Encounters', held at the Herbert Read Gallery, University for the Creative Arts (UCA), Canterbury, 20 June to 26 July 2014. The exhibition is the finale of the 'Moving Textiles' exhibition series and celebrates the current practice in digital textiles design alongside hand-crafted textiles and heritage. Curated by Jenna Rossi-Camus, the work comprises four themes: Digital x Material, Personal, Social and Historical. Forty two exhibitors were chosen by a panel of judges from the UK, France, and Belgium.
'Digital Encounters' is the final exhibition in the Crysalis 'Moving Textiles' exhibition series and the final main deliverable for UCA. The Crysalis project is a collaboration between UCA in Rochester, Plymouth College of Art, International Centre of Lace and Fashion in Calais, and TIO3 Textiles Open Innovation Centre in Ronse, Belgium. The Crysalis project started in 2011 and is a three year project part funded by the EU through the European Regional Development Fund and the Interreg 2 seas programme which supports cross border, cross regional collaborative projects.
