This chapter reads animation through queer theory to connect notions of queer time and space with an understanding of animation as an art form that has transformation and inbetween states at its very foundation. Animat* is used as a term that encompasses the multiple processes involved in the production and reception of animation. Examples from the expanded animation work of Norman McLaren, Birgitta Hosea and Rashaad Newsome are given to elucidate concepts of straight and queer time, queer phenomenology and queer futurity.
