Description/Abstract: | This is the catalogue of atouring exhibition I have developed and curated. I have conducted, translated from German into English and edited. I worked with the Graphic Designer Donald Addison on the layout of the publication. The exhibition and material considered the role of art in identity formation and 'Otherness' chosing three artists of different cultural and ethnic origins, who live and work in Berlin. It considered changes in their creative practices in the context of the German unification and the radical changes that took place in terms of the working conditions for artists and affected women artists in particular. The exhibition build on a sustained research interested that is manifest in contributions to conferences and publications. The exhibition at Talbot Rice Gallery was accompanied by an international symposium. The exhibition was subsequently shown in Galerie M, Berln, in 2003. |
