Description/Abstract:

Slips and Burns is a series of experimental photographic collages by Maria Ahmed that combines both traditional photographic and digital techniques. Using images from her personal familial archive as a starting point, together with found images of her mother’s native Finland, and additional vernacular images, Ahmed’s work uses the language of photography to suggest absences, gaps and silences to blur truth and fiction.
