A presentation by Lucy Brown and Lyndsay Duthie, Principal Lecturers and Film and TV Programme Leaders at the University of Greenwich and University of Hertfordshire.
Lucy Brown and Lyndsay Duthie are award-winning television programme-makers (having worked for BBC, ITV, Channel 4, SKY) and they run Film and TV production programmes. Their presentation will explore how you create compelling reality TV, like the Kardashians, going behind the scenes to reveal the mechanics of the format, the casting and the key ingredients that make up a successful reality format.
Brown and Duthie are currently writing a book called The TV Studio Production Handbook, designed to provide students with everything they need to know to create a successful television programme. The handbook is packed with interesting live case studies and exclusive interviews from hit international formats like Big Brother, Britain’s Got Talent and Next Top Model. In this presentation Brown and Duthie, as dual practitioners, will investigate the power of reality TV. The paper includes interviews with top reality TV programme makers – we give the view point of the producer and reveal what it takes to create a global reality brand.
