Description/Abstract: | The recent resurgence of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented reality (AR) research and development has been palpable, with new performance projects emerging that in turn explore the latest technologies, headsets, glasses and software to make intimate interactive storytelling and games. This paper is will be a reworked section from my upcoming book on New Directions in Mobile Media and Performance due in 2018, and will shed light on the recent exponential resurgence of virtual reality (VR), the evolution of AR/MR (mixed reality) and its use within performance work, which use the latest technologies, headsets, glasses and software to make intimate performance events and theatre games using wearable headset or mobile devices worn on the face. |
