- Details
Memory Tracks is a care platform that uses music as reminiscence songs to support those living with cognitive impairment or with issues of well-being. It is a personalised selection of music tailored to an individual dementia patient’s routine, their family, carers and needs. It aims to help dementia patients remain more independent in the early stages of the illness and in later stages, to be more connected to their environment
The core element of this is a tablet application that connects daily events to the patient's choice of reminiscence music. Further development of Memory Tracks will utilise behavioural or physical triggers to create a contextual, more immersive user experience.
Memory Tracks has been established as an enterprise. The researcher work will be in collaboration with this enterprise. The research considers questions relevant to the app on-boarding process:
- How can dementia patients and their carers identify the most relevant reminiscence songs?
- What is the optimal app user experience to introduce (on-board) and support the needs of these patients, their families and carers?
The research will use observation and interviews around the core questions. A paper will be written that includes the technical process and the research outputs.
