- Details
The study will explore how innovative processes/ materials can be applied in smart methods to achieve positive impacts on people’s daily life’s within environments of various architectural types and/ or scales through; identifying and responding to behavioral patterns within contemporary life; investigating innovative processes and materials that can be cleverly integrated through products or furniture solutions - e.g. in contemporary workplaces, hospitals or domestic spaces where the; plan layouts, product form, material choices, surface textures and treatments all are factors which affect (absorbs or reflects) the; light / sound / humidity / air quality in inhabited structural landscapes and directly linked to the individuals wellbeing.
The overarching focus in the study builds on knowledge from previous professional experience obtained (at Foster and Partners) whilst working on creating bespoke product, furniture, interior layouts and service design solutions for various architectural projects e.g. Bloomberg's new Head Quarter in London, UK. A development commissioned around the employee’s needs, e.g. wellbeing, productivity and dynamic collaborations played an integral part in the project to create the desired settings for the Bloomberg staff and visitors – currently a workplace for approximately 4500 people (with the possibility to grow to 7500 - 8000).
The investigation will be conducted through experiments combining craft and manufacture, processes to manipulate materials and an approach rooted in a professional curiosity and aspiration to make better solutions for the world around us.
The outcome to the study could be a collection of experiments or product related results with the ambition to be included in an exhibition or a publication format.
Due to confidentiality and IP ownership belonging to former clients and employer(s) the submission will only including studies conducted after Oct. 2016
