This output is a sole-authored chapter in an edited volume. It was produced as an output of the research project ‘Architecture, Design and Art Practice Training-research’ (ADAPT-r) an EU Seventh Framework Programme Initial Training Network. The project aimed to significantly increase European research capacity in creative practice research through a series of events and fellowships undertaken between 2013 and 2016 bringing together creative practitioners from across disciplines as an active network.
The edited volume presents insights into the role of relational knowledge in the explication of implicit knowledge and the creation of new knowledge. It is based on data constructed from a series of interviews with experienced creative practitioners in the process of undertaking the PhD by practice and participating in the activities of the Initial Training Network.
Holder’s sole-authored chapter contributes insights into the research methods and techniques used in a developing model of creative practice research. It situates this within the context of the established but changing field of creative practice research and the wider transformations of the doctorate and its relations to ongoing practice.
