Hunt, Chris and Cunningham, Mavernie (2016) Song of Songs. [Film, Performance]
Creators: | Hunt, Chris and Cunningham, Mavernie |
---|---|
Description/Abstract: | A spoken word event accompanied by a series of short films, touching on themes – a broken land, the limits of language, mother and daughter, the connection to the sea. A girl stands at the shore. She walks into the sea. A woman sits in the attic with the night all around her. A green veil passes over their faces connecting their worlds. ‘On the day Maya Angelou died I heard her poem ‘Phenomenal Woman’ for the first time. I sat down and started to write and haven’t stopped. This was the moment of stirring.’ The film footage is from walks in and around Whitstable – its shoreline, vegetation, and skies...big events which have resonances with thoughts and feelings often overlooked. |
