Description/Abstract:

The piece is an installation comprising 3 blouses and a series of objects, props for each blouse housed in 2 large scale vitrines.
I undertook a series of interventions on these 3 garments to hide and then reveal latent matter. Using the imagery of a historical photograph and inspired by the photographers acts to protect his original photographs by burying them and later to unearth them, I explored ways I could mimic this process. The key element for me was that the photograph of the tea party was concealed within the construction/body or embellishment of everyday garments, with the ability to be worn without disclosing the evidence of the gathering and later through acts of deconstruction, unpicking and cutting these garments, the tea party is revealed, unveiled and disclosed.
