Description/Abstract: | Book chapter on networked photography and pornography. In this essay I reflect on the use of Tumblr for users to curate images, addressing Jodi Dean's notion of communicative capitalism as drive-circulation, and Hito Steyerl's notion of the visual bond as discussed in her important essay on the poor image. There is also a discussion of shifts in digital culture since 2012, including shifts of apps, hacking and sharing of celebrity photographs in the so-called 'Fappening' and the paradoxes of self-enforced self-pornographication. |
