What is it really like to teach first year undergraduate students in art & design? When 100 first year vampires walk into your classroom for the first time, what demons will they bring with them? Will they expect you to slay them? And if so, where do you go for training?

This case study investigated the experience of first year undergraduate tutors at the University for the Creative Arts. Using a phenomenographic methodology, the study explored nature of the tutor role. The findings are being used to review and improve the support that is provided to new tutors.
