Organiser of symposium intended to support the exhibition, Shima Kara Shima E by Ashley Howard and Risa Ohgi. The theme of the symposium looked at how East and West have been influencing makers recently and how our views of this dialogue are developing in the field of ceramics.
Those presenting were Ashley Howard, Bonnie Kemske, Felicity Aylieff, Simon Olding and Namiko Murakoshi.
Ashley Howard covered the unfolding of Shima Kara Shima E. Bonnie Kemske examined the cultural significance of the tea bowl. Felicity Aylieff reflected on her continuing relationship and projects with and in China. Namiko Murakoshi explained what life was like working as a Japanese in the UK and how it has influenced her work.
