Minkin, Louise and Summers, Francis (2013) Common Conduct. In: Who is the Common Intellectual, 2013, Conway Hall.
Creators: | Minkin, Louise and Summers, Francis |

Description/Abstract: | Performance at 'Who is the common intellectual,' Copy Press event, Conway Hall (other speakers included Mario Fusco, Jaki Irvine, Anne Tallentire, Sharon Morris). This performance comprised a reading with video (made in collaboration with Louisa Minkin). The piece utilises the visual language of internet memes (as encountered both in vernacular iconography - the vomiting panda - and in the practice of the body - the soldier dancing to 'Call Me Maybe') and use of poetic language along with quotation to construct a description of models of contemporary protest (utilising Foucault's notion of conduct alongside the contemporary readings of the common, using poetic form influenced by Louis Zukofsky, H.D., and Ezra Pound). |
