The impermanence of space is a fundamental for interior designers – the reappraisal of buildings designed for one purpose or a particular age redefined to meet the demands of another. Transformative space can have many meanings; the transformation of a building, the impact on a person entering into a space, space where new ideas emerge from. The three projects outlined within this publication touch upon one or more aspects of the above, exploring transition and change (liminality), the superimposition of multiple spatialities (heterotopia) and the possibilities offered by dissolving spatial boundaries; enhanced social interaction, the exchange of ideas and knowledge transfer. Advances in digital processes link all three – changing spaces for a rapidly changing world.
