Description/Abstract: | The Birth of Stars (TBOS) is a light, sound and dance performance, situated outside and within the studio at GLive. The work depicts the cyclical process of a star being created and extinguished as a metaphor for the cycle of human existence; whilst the live dance depicts the physical journey of a star the soundscape assists in the metaphorical message. TBOS is a collaborative project uniting a broad demographic of performers to celebrate in each others diversity. Primary school children, teenagers and older people from across Surrey will create and perform the work with professional dancers in collaboration with sound artist Mat Clarke, visual artist Mary Branson, digital video artist Rosie Gunn and choreographer Rachel Palmer. The project commenced in late March and culminated in a performance at GLive on 11 and 12 October 2013. |
