This article is one of three online articles, guest edited by Jonathan Harris, featuring material complementary to the special issue 'Global Occupations of Art', Volume 27, Issue 4, 2013. In this article, the artist Bill Balaskas explores Guy Debord's 'Society of the Spectacle' through his exhibition presented in Thessaloniki, Greece. He links the rebel philosopher's ideas, as a catalyst for contemporary politically engaged art, to the global economic crisis of 2008-2012.
