An overview of Knorr's 30 year practice, increasing visibility as an important woman photographer, following her award of Premio Internacional de Fotografía Pilar Citoler, 2010.
Examines the various photo series by Knorr, using the psychoanalytic theories of Melanie Klein, D. W. Winnicott and Sigmund Freud. Particular interdisciplinary readings of Knorr's photographic images using; ‘Object Relations’ by Klein, ‘Playing & Reality’ by Winnicott, and 'The Uncanny' essay by Freud. Explores Knorr’s later work made in India using post colonial theory and examining global issues. The text explores the theoretical framework of feminism and creativity, semiotics, psychoanalytic theory, feminism and context, historical and contemporary photography, museums and institutional discourse. Questions of post production and aesthetics are also explored.
