The heaps of raw materials, made of the remains of demolished buildings, supply the essential aggregate used to construct the city. They are nonetheless, mountains, and evoke Heinrich Heine's 1823 poem 'Lyrical Intermezzo'. 'Ich steh'auf des Berges Sptize, Und werde sentimental,' which translates as, 'I stand on the mountain's summit and am getting sentimental'.
