Description/Abstract:
This piece was exhibited at the world acclaimed Sculpture by the Sea Bondi 2009 which saw 114 outdoor sculptures visited by more than 500,000 people with a sculpture tour stretching from Tamarana Bay to Bondi Beach around 10km from Sydney.
The catalyst for the piece was a television news item about the indiscriminate slaughter of elephants simply for their ivory tusks. The work challenges traditional notions about value and the laws of supply and demand that often seem to exercise such a gross tyranny over our planet.
