Description/Abstract: | Cuba Libre, a drink made with white rum, cola and lime juice, served over ice. Cuba Ether, a book made with photographs mostly taken in Trinidad, Cuba. These images therefore are a document of a place shielded from western commercialisation. In Trinidad the photographer was drawn to the disposition of the exposed power and telephone cables, perhaps because in contrast, the communication infrastructure in the developed world is becoming more of a concealed and faceless phenomenon. To respond and to explore these photographs, this book also contains a mix of constructed images, some of which signify media, both digital and printed. These images juxtaposed together, play with the perception of physical information, the absence of information and the authenticity of information itself. |
