Description/Abstract: | The aim of the research that this thesis is based on is to explore the theoretical problems raised by the concept of photgraphic abstraction. These consist in the tension between the two aspects of the photographic sign, the indexical and iconic, and are examined in the context of the particular exploration of the empty space in abstract photography which I have pursued through my practice. |
