Bech, Tine (2010) Echidna. [Exhibition/show, Installation, Sculpture, Sound art]
Creators: | Bech, Tine |

Description/Abstract: | Echidna is like a fussy tumbled creature that has its own (electronic) voice - it will squeak and react to human presence. It is made of coloured wire, like a messy line drawing infused with life and shaped to create a magnetic field. It sits on a plinth with electronics inside. The work combines a circuit, which directly measures electrostatic changes in the environment and this together with a custom designed phase locked loop system is used to drive an audio speaker. When you touch and disturb the electromagnetic field around it, a sound emerges from the sculpture. |
